Grading & Certificate Glossary
How ANWA computes module grades, course competency, and certificate tiers.

Each module is graded as a percentage of its assignment's maximum score (or, if a module has no assignment, the student's best quiz attempt), rounded to the nearest whole number and mapped to a letter grade:

| S | 90–100 | High Distinction range |
| A | 80–89 | Distinction range |
| B | 66–79 | Credit range |
| C | 50–65 | Pass — the minimum passing grade |
| F | 0–49 | Fail |
Course Competency
Competency reflects overall course quality — the highest level for which the student has at least 3 modules graded at that level or better.

| Credit | At least 3 modules graded B or better |
| Pass | At least 3 modules graded C or better |
Certificate Tiers
Each course's instructor configures its own certificate tiers — there is no fixed global tier scheme. A tier's requirement is built from one of these blocks:
- Specific modules — a checklist of modules that must be completed.
- Module count — complete at least a set number of modules.
- Percent of course — complete at least a set percentage of the course.
- Minimum grade — the selected modules passed at or above a given letter grade.
- Minimum competency — the course's overall competency reaches a given level.
- Capstone — every module in the course is complete.
Issuance mode
Instructors also choose, per course, whether to issue one certificate that upgrades to show the highest tier reached, or a separate certificate for each tier earned.
